Adding the widget

Open the app and tap Add the widget, or long-press an empty spot on your home screen, choose Widgets, find Second Brain and drag it onto the screen. You can resize it — it shows as many notes as fit.

The widget or reminders are late

Some phones stop background apps to save battery, which can delay the midnight refresh and reminders. These steps fix it on almost every phone:

  • Allow exact alarms: Settings → Apps → Second Brain → Alarms & reminders → Allow.
  • Turn off battery limits: Settings → Apps → Second Brain → Battery → Unrestricted.
  • Samsung: Settings → Battery → Background usage limits → remove Second Brain from “Sleeping apps” and “Deep sleeping apps”.
  • Xiaomi / Redmi / POCO: Settings → Apps → Second Brain → turn on Autostart, and set Battery saver to No restrictions.
  • OnePlus / OPPO / realme: Settings → Battery → Second Brain → allow background activity and auto-launch.

Then test it: in the app, open Settings and tap Send a test reminder.

How the midnight reset works

Quick notes stay on Today until your reset time, then move to History — marked completed or expired. Pinned notes and notes with a later expiry date stay. Nothing is deleted. To change the time, open Settings → Slate resets at and pick midnight or 1–5 AM.

Backups and moving to a new phone

Open Settings → Export backup to save all your notes (including History and Trash) as a JSON file, then copy it to the new phone (or to cloud storage you trust). On the new phone, Settings → Import backup shows what the file contains first, then lets you add only the notes that are new or use the backup's copies.

If Google backup is on, Android can also restore your notes automatically when you set up a new phone.

Restoring deleted notes

Deleted notes go to Settings → Trash for 30 days. Open it and tap restore. Notes that simply moved off Today at midnight are in History, not the Trash.

Refunds

Within 48 hours of buying, you can request a refund directly on Google Play: open your order history, find Second Brain and choose Request a refund. After 48 hours, email us within 30 days of purchase with your Google Play order number (it starts with GPA.) and we'll help.
